Ausmelt Pty. Ltd. – Melbourne Australia

Ausmelt is a world leader in the development of leading-edge top submerged lancing smelting technology and have numerous clients in China, Russia, Korea, Japan, Chile, Columbia and India. We have been engaged to investigate an advanced technological capability that could be incorporated into the company’s control philosophy.

In addition to this aspect of our assignment, we have completed a full rewrite of the company’s automation & control systems functional procedures manuals to cover all aspects of the various plant operations.

Dong Phuong Knitting Company – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Dong Phuong Knitting is a JV operation comprising of 9 independent clothing manufacturers that were being privatized under the Governments SOE development plans. The company’s sales were predominantly export oriented (in excess of 94% of their production was targeted towards export) and they were eager to develop a domestic market.

We were initially engaged to conduct a comprehensive market research of the HCMC fashion market within the 10 to 24 years old female consumer and retail market. As a result of this research, we were asked to develop a comprehensive business and marketing strategy for a new company that would enable Dong Phuong Knitting to attract a domestic Vietnamese client base with a target of opening of 10 stores and 50 agency appointments throughout Vietnam.

This required the creation of a totally new company structure and fashion brand targeted at the domestic market.

We created the name and designed the logo and slogan DP Fashions – ‘Proud to be Vietnamese’ for the company’s new fashion centers and devised the branding of the company’s label of ‘Cutie Collection’; ‘Cool Collection’ and ‘Cheeki Collection’ to differentiate the company’s proposed product range totally from the current Dong Phuong Knitting Company labels.

We were required to advise on the design of the DP Fashions store outlet/decor including the design of the floor-staff uniforms and in the development of all store procedures manuals, the company’s corporate organisation chart and total corporate job descriptions.

In addition, we designed and organized all the store grand opening ceremonies in HCMC, Hanoi, DaNang, Hue and Nha Trang

Codan Ltd. – Adelaide, Australia

We were engaged to review and instigate the redirection of Codan’s international sales and marketing operations in the Asia Pacific region. As part of this review, we conducted an extensive overview of existing staff capabilities and operational/managerial logistics, developed a detailed report on potential operational improvements and regulated the various agency/representation agreements throughout the region.
The various strategies were presented to Codan’s Board of Directors, accepted and implemented.

Tiep Thi Ben Thanh – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Tiep Thi Ben Thanh is one of the leading importers of home-based electronic entertainment products in Vietnam. They wanted to expand into the retail sector of the Vietnamese marketplace and engaged us to assist in the formation of a ‘western-style’ company that could successfully attract the domestic customer.

Our initial approach was to develop a conceptual business model followed up by the development of a comprehensive business and marketing & sales plan. As part of this task, we created the name and designed the logo and slogan of the company’s new CARINGS – ‘Your Home-We Care’ logo, developed a 12-month media plan for the stores and designed the grand opening ceremony for the launch of the stores in Can Tho & Hanoi.

In addition, we developed the CARINGS operational procedures and forms as well as the company’s organisation chart and associated job descriptions and advised on and produced designs of the CARINGS floor-staff uniforms.

Warlick International – Houston Texas, USA

We have been engaged by Warlick International on a number of occasions to conduct market assessments throughout Australia and Asia.

In all, eight assignments have been completed and all have included field visits and have encompassed the oil & gas industry, manufacturing industries and the IT intelligence sectors in the Australia and the Asian & Pacific Region.

The latest being for The Concourse Group in November 2002 that required Warlick International to review and appoint suitable candidates to establish their operations in the Middle East and Asia.

We handle the Asia component of assignments on behalf of Warlick International and have completed various market research and other assignments for clients under the direction of Warlick.

Oztrak Group Pty Ltd. – Ballarat, Australia

Ballarat Goldfields acquired Oztrak in February 2000 and they engaged us in March of that year to review, formalise and reaffirm the company’s fiscal, corporate, sales & marketing and project management functions. As such, we undertook a total corporate re-evaluation of the company’s structure, instigated a number of staff changes and implemented a measurable project management capability.

To promote the company, we implemented product/services definitions, corporate/brochure development, product/client management newsletters, Web-site improvements and internal structures that moved the company from an ‘engineering’ focused organisation to a ‘market’ driven organisation.

In addition, we also developed a full and comprehensive 2000 thru 2003 business and sales & marketing plans that were adopted in its entirety by BGF Board of Management.

Of notable successes was our involvement in assisting Oztrak to secure the Holden Telematics Systems Project, the TAC ‘SafeCar’ Project, the Reliance Oil (Indian) Project and in identifying and negotiating on behalf of Oztrak a strategic partnership with Tradenet International for major cellular network/telematics projects in China and developing close strategic relationships with Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.

In all, we contributed to an improvement of revenues booked in access of AUD$10m.

Integral CMS – Melbourne, Australia

Integral CMS is a leading IBM AS\400 systems integrator and IBM Business Partner and we were engaged to establish and manage the company’s activities and to assist them in developing new business relationships.

As such, we undertook a full market review of the AS\400 marketplace, searched and approached a number of application software development organizations and negotiated various relationships. In addition, we developed a series of successful data warehousing seminars and, with the assistance of IBM and New Generation Software, Inc. in Sacramento, brought together a number of leading speakers to address the Common IBM AS\400 User Group Annual Conference.

Our identified contribution to increased revenue generation was in the order of $7.25 million and an identifiable improvement of GP that averaged 26.5%.

Royal Lifesaving Society – Melbourne, Australia

We were initially approached by the CEO of the VLSSA to undertake a small counseling assignment that had been created by a number of personnel conflicts within the organisation.

We were further engaged to offer advice on the direction of the Victorian Branch of the RLSSA and was also engaged in the review of their IT upgrade project and the impact that this would have on the Society's operational infrastructure

Jaques Martin Industry Funds Administration Pty. Ltd. – Melbourne Australia

Jaques Martin Investment Fund Administrators (JMIFA) is one of the largest multi-fund organisations in Australia. It administers well over two and a half million superannuation policies on behalf of over twenty industry-affiliated funds.

We were tasked with undertaking a comprehensive review of the organisation's Production Services and Distribution Department that services the whole JMIFA client base as well as being required to produce various reports and other statutory documents for the Federal Government and stakeholders.

Encompassed in this review was the necessity to complete a comprehensive 'process chart' or each operation of the department; identify, develop and implement improvement strategies for all activities - both operational and inter-departmental; liaise between the JMIFA Board and other stakeholders on the expected impact of the implemented change management activities and govern the interaction between other activities within JMIFA to ensure operational activities were maintained.

The assignment was completed over a six-month period and resulted in the reorganisation of the department to improve workflow and efficiencies, a reduction in measurable error rates by 95% - thereby saving over $250K in operational costs - and the improvement of interdepartmental and JMIFA/client workflow efficiencies.

Bristol Babcock Asia Pacific – Perth, Australia

Bristol Babcock required to make a presence in the Asia Pacific market and engaged us to review and develop the potential for their various products and services.

As such, we identified and began negotiations for the appointment of BBAP agent representatives in targeted countries in the Asia Pacific region, identified the trends in the systems integration and product industry in the industrial automation and control marketplace in the Asia Pacific region and detailed the opportunities for BBAP within their existing/potential customer in the Asia Pacific region.

The assignment was conducted within a tight time constraint and was completed within twenty working days.

KESEM International – Melbourne, Australia

KESEM is an internationally recognised strategic modelling software development company with major contracts with the Australian Defence Department and DSTO.

Within our brief was the development of an extensive business and marketing & sales plan for the BattleModel sofware, the identification of available government funding and commercialization marketing assistance, export and R&D programs and the development of both commercial and associated defense commercialisation opportunities of the modelling software.

Schneider Electric –Sydney, Australia

To date, we have conducted two small assignments for Schnieder. The first involved a politically sensitive 'head-hunting' task that required the penetration of a competitive company and entice a selected individual to enter into discussions with Schneider's Melbourne office.

Following the successful completion of the initial assignment, we were requested to discuss various areas of corporate operational concern with Schneider senior management in Sydney which led them to also engage us to conduct a series of one-day seminars for their staff on the development of a corporate time management and operational effectiveness program.

REE Corporation – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

REE Corporation is the largest privately owned pubkically listed company in Vietnam with interests in the financial, property, contracting and manufacturing sectors of the marketplace. We were engaged to offer a number of business and process improvement seminars for REE Corporation which have included:

Reetech – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Reetech manufacture and distribute a full range of domestic air conditioning and refrigerator products for the domestic Vietnamese market. Our initial task was to develop a detailed corporate marketing plan for Reetech which was poorly managed and grossly underperforming. As such, we developed a number of performance reporting forms, counseled and trained the salespersons, coached the appointed sales managers and reformed the division to make it more effective.

In addition, we undertook extensive market research of the Vietnam air conditioner and home appliance industry and incorporated these findings into a very comprehensive report that advised on the status and restructure of REE Industries and Reetech operations and managerial philosophies

TUSC Computer Systems Pty. Ltd. - Doncaster, Australia

TUSC is a well-established telco systems integration company that had some interests in the industrial automation business sector. We were engaged to review and assist the penetration potential of the Industrial Applications Group with a specific focus on the utility, resource and manufacturing market.

As such, we established a comprehensive sales and marketing plan that gained the full approval of TUSC's management board. We also assisted TUSC in developing a number of strategic alliances and partnerships with suppliers and complementary systems integration organizations and identified and was intimately involved in assisting TUSC to secure a number of multi-million dollar contracts with Santos, City West Water and Mobil.

In addition, we were also requested to develop a disaster recovery program for City West Water and the Mobil - JUHI project on behalf of TUSC that included plans in the event of a communication or equipment failure. This included the identification, evaluation and recommendation of various off-site contingency options to enable seamless system recovery and information protection.

An inherent part of the assignment was the development and upgrade of TUSC's quality procedures and instruction manuals - under Standards Australia - to reflect the incorporation of their new call centre operations. As such, we were engaged in writing the relevant documents and was also invited to review TUSC's sales and order entry procedures.

Combustion Engineering/SIMCON - Box Hill, Australia

We were appointed to establish and implement an aggressive marketing and sales strategy for Simcon’s energy management systems throughout Asia, Europe and the USA. Successful sales were made to Caltex Kurnell Refinery in NSW, Australia; Shell Geelong Refinery in Victoria, Australia; Wuhan Iron & Steel Company in China; Krakatoa Steelworks in Indonesia, the Katherine, Tennant Creek and Darwin Power Stations in the Northern Territory, Australia, Chevron Oil Refinery, USA and Veba Oil Refinery in Germany.

We recruited and initially managed a sales team of 20 and had direct responsibility for Simcon’s operations in China (incorporating a total office and sales staff of 10) as well as having international development responsibility for all agency operations.

Kinetic Corporation Pty. Ltd. – Melbourne, Australia

Kinetic Corporation is a security encryption coding company specializing in the banking industry. Our task was to review their operation and implement a highly focused sales and marketing program to promote their company and products into the major US markets. This was accomplished through a number of visits to New York, Houston and Washington with the resultant appointment of a number of key representative organizations.

Motherwell – Perth, Western Australia

Motherwell is a UK based company with Australian head offices in Perth. We were recruited to re-establish and re-focus the company’s sales and operational activities. As such, we implemented a strategic business and marketing capability within the Victorian Office and developed a target marketing philosophy that focused on the gas utility and food manufacturing marketplace.

TSW International – Atlanta, Georgia, USA

TSWI is an asset management company based in Atlanta, USA that was looking to penetrate the Australian and Asia Pacific market. We were engaged to initially establish the market potential of the company’s various systems and, as a result of this research, identified a potential Australian company that was attractive to TSWI for purchase. We were requested to closely liaise with the various parties involved in the merger and were then retained to oversee the initial operation of TSWI.

Meng Jai Joint Venture Textile Company – Quang Ngai & HCM City, Vietnam

We were engaged to establish a managerial overview and improvement program that would address a number of fundamental issues in performance and productivity. As a result of this review, we undertook the recruitment new general manager for the company’s operation in Quang Ngai and assisted in the establishment of a relationship with a Quang Ngai-based textile personnel training college

As a further enhancement to the company’s operational improvement, we developed and implemented a number of comprehensive production reporting procedures and quality control programs

Measurex – Melbourne, Victoria
Measurex is a Cupertino-based company that produced cross-sheet dynamic measuring and control systems with a specific focus on the paper industry. We were engaged to assist Measurex operations in Melbourne, Australia penetrate the Australian Paper, Australian Pulp & Paper and Australian Newsprint Mills in Victoria and Tasmania.
The ensuing strategy, and the development of various in-house seminars and involvement with APPITA contributed to Measurex, Australasia exceeding booked revenue in excess of AUS$48 million and exceeding forecasted budgets by 157%.

Goodman Fielder/Pampas Pastry – Melbourne, Australia

Our initial assignment at Pampas Pastry involved the development of an induction manual aimed at newly appointed factory floor staff that came from many different ethnic cultures. As such, We were required to become cognizant of varying languages and religious backgrounds.
The success of this assignment initiated a request for us to review and develop a quality procedures and instruction manual - under Lloyd's Register - for both the Footscray and Liverpool plants. This assignment required the full development of the respective manuals that incorporated over 34 specific production lines and over five products per line. On audit, the manuals were accepted almost in entirety with only eight variances recorded.

Digital Equipment Corporation – Melbourne, Australia

We were engaged to promote and establish DEC in the forefront of the Process and Resource Industry and Government Market Sectors that included the Forestry, Mining, Metal & Glass and Oil & Gas sectors of the marketplace

This was a cost-centre appointment, during which we developed strategies to enhance DEC’s image through the development of channel partnerships and VARs in the targeted market.

We developed an innovative marketing strategy to develop a series of specific industry focused ‘Centres of Expertise’ around the world such as the International Mining Centre of Expertise in Perth, Western Australia and Salt Lake City, USA, a Metals & Glass Centre of Expertise in Pittsburgh, USA, an Oil & Gas Centre of Expertise in Houston, USA and Glasgow, UK and a Pulp & Paper Centre of Expertise in Seattle, USA – thereby placing DEC at the forefront of the systems integration business and launched DEC firmly and successfully into the various targeted market segments.

Advance & Best Enterprises – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Advance & Best Enterprises is one of the largest milk products and demineralised beverage producers and distributors in Vietnam. We had been engaged by A&B on a number of occasions source ingredients from around the world and to assist in the subsequent price and delivery negotiations and organise the establishment of a Melbourne-based operation and assist in the transfer of a senior A&B staff member to relocate to Melbourne to set up an A&B representative office.

We were subsequently invited by A&B to fill an interim position at the company’s head office in HCMC to manage and develop an effective and affirmative marketing function within the company. As such, reporting to the Managing Director, our primary objectives were to:

Our staff were required to travel extensively throughout Vietnam and we developed an extensive database of companies and contacts covering numerous distributors and agents as well as developing close relationships, at executive level, with all independent and national supermarket chains.

As a result of our work, A&Bs revenues increased by 87% during the period we were engaged.

Subsequent to this initial assignment, we were requested to assist in the launch of two new products and, after conducting comprehensive market research in both HCMC and HaNoi, we created a branding and product design on both the ‘Honey Jasmine Tea’ and ‘Vo Dich’ drinks.

We organized a highly successful media release and product launch to promote the drinks in both HCMC and HaNoi.
